Exciting9:57 pm - 18 May, 2005A funny thing happened to me today. Nah. Only kidding. But you almost believed me, right? OK. Never mind. I don't know why I said it anyway. In two weeks time the exams will be over. Right now I'm half way through. But I don't really much want to think about all that right now, or I would be revising. Yup, I've got my M3P17 notes on my desk right now. Which is why my keyboard is on my knee. Anyway. I've spring-cleaned my diary. Archived the entries by month, put links to the archive pages on the archive pages and put the comment thing back on. Funny thing happened, and Force9's CGI server had some kind of disk crash and they lost my CGI stuff. Happily, I have a copy of at least some of the stuff. Also, the data is kept in a database which is on a completely different server, so comments from other entries are still intact. Yesterday, I kind-of set the ball rolling on our group project, by asking everyone (via e-mail) when they would be free. The current thinking is that we will have a meeting tomorrow moring at 11am. I think the other group are more organised than we, it looks like only our group were sent the e-mail telling us to see our supervisor this week (which we got today). Our project is on normal modes of symmetric molecules, which I don't know very much about, but ought to be interesting. In Windband, we're planning to have an Open Baton Night, the rehersal after next. Mainly, this is because Gilly can't make it to the rehersal. I'm hoping to have a go myself, though I'm a little bit scared. I'm not sure what I would conduct. The pieces we've looked at so far this term are Pomp and Circumstance, Overture to "Candide", Send in the Clowns (with a trumpet solo — and I'm the only trumpet who's shown up these last 3 weeks) and Egmont. I'd quite like to play Bourgois' Serenade, which is nice and has some unconventional time signatures, mainly 13/8 and 11/8. I don't know if I'm even competent enough to conduct straight 4/4, but it might be worth a try.
